Edgewise coils are drawing the attention as it can be miniaturized and saving energy from the thin shape and the improvement in a space factor. There are many different methods to wind edgewise coils, but we have developed the epoch-making winding method as the rolling method for rectangular copper wire (obtained US & Japan patent in 1998) that is different from the previous one, and is possible to wind lower inflate shape coils from thinner to thicker coils than the previous coils.
The engineering section of Electronic Devices Division developed the individual winding method as the rolling method, and make the epoch-making heat resistant coil that cannot be compared with that of any other coils in the world by putting the ceramics as insulated coating to practical use (obtained US & Japan patent in 1998). Our coils applied this technique are used in the winding machines of major textile machinery manufacturers.
We have been promptly engaged in the application to Hybrid vehicles that have been rapidly extending their influence in recent years, and succeeded in the development for the square shape coils using rectangular copper wire (obtained US & Japan patent in 2005).
Besides, we have focused on motor applications and succeeded in the development for the motor winding methods which were unsuccessful previously (obtained US & Japan patent in 2002).
Our edgewise coils are expected to the applications for electrical and automobile related parts, and are defined the important position on our business development from now on.
This division have accomplished the research and development about resin molded and insulated coating technology except coils technology, and have contributed much towards products development leading the next generation through trial production and development by many exchanges of public research institutes and laboratories of big business.
The difference between the coils using round copper wire and rectangular copper wire is illustrated as follows.
Compared with the coil using round copper wire, in case of the edgewise coil method piling up one rectangular copper wire, the volume as the whole coil will become smaller because needless gaps will be removed and the space factor will be improved (by up to 70 ? 80%).

The strong point of our rolling method is that the coils aren’t transformed at all after the winding, and is possible to wind not only square shape coils but also various shapes of coils.
◇Heater Coils for Textile Machinery
The heater coils for induction heating are used for the drawing equipment of the textile machinery, and are characterized by the high heat resistance of 250℃ – 300℃ and the resistance to vibration. They are the products applied our rolling method and ceramic-coated insulation. (The rolling winding method has obtained US & Japan patent.)
◇Particular Coil Products for Government and Municipal Offices & Public Laboratory
Our rolling method has created a high density in the winding, which has realized the miniaturization, high radiation and high efficiency coil.
◇Motor Coils for Hybrid Vehicles
It’s a square shape coil wound not to swell up 4 inner diameters of a coil to the limit and that becomes smaller. It has also realized the miniaturization and high efficiency. (This winding method has obtained US & Japan patent.)
◇Reactor Coils for Hybrid Vehicles
Similar to the motor coil, it’s a square shape coil keeping 4 inner diameters of a coil to the limit smaller so that it may not deformed the rectangular copper wire.
The coils wound by our rolling method have the characteristics no deformation after winding, and realize not only square shape coils but also various shapes of coils in no deformation.
(For example: For lighting lamps, plasma generators, converters, transformers and so on.)
